Development of analytical methods for structural characterization of natural products

II. Neuroprotective role of natural products

A.Studying in vitro and in vivo the biologic properties of various natural products (mainly Crocus styles extracts and constituents) relevant to brain degenerative diseases, i.e. antioxidant, anti-amyloid, effect on neurotransmission.
B. Studying in vivo the effect of natural products on memory and learning.

III. Chemopreventive potential of natural products

Effect of selected natural products on breast cancer proliferation, expression of matrix metalloproteinases and their inhibitors, and invasion

IV. Cataract preventive potential of natural products

In vitro and in vivo studies of the efect of natural products to prevent cataract formation
